Priceline is an online travel company that tries hard to please their customers.  But does the effort pay off?

Big Deal Days
The site has quite a broad range of destinations; US, Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia. It doesn’t however reach some parts of the world such as Africa and Scandinavia.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

The search tool starts off at a regional level and can then be refined by individual country.  There are also ‘vacation ideas’ and ‘themed vacation’ tools.

Each search result can be filtered by rating, area and price.  However, outside of the main functionality of the site we disliked the fact that some of the basics were missing.  There is, for example, no About Us, Contact Us function on the home page or site map.  In addition the Help function is hard to spot.

The site has a separate section on Pricebreaker Deals which includes last minute deals, flights or hotels only as vacation packages.

There are also deals within the menu categories covering vacations, rentals and cruises.

All searches can be filtered by price to easily identify the cheapest offers.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? Forum? We found out..
There are no links to social networks or customer interaction on Priceline. But there are some online vacation packages.

Can you contact the site with queries? This grades the email support and telephone contacts available to users..
There is a FAQ, email form and phone line.  All great but it was not easily identifiable on the site, located at the very top in tiny text amid a host of other items.  This information needs to be easy to locate.

Help in finding what you want. With so many packages to choose from, how does the site help you pick what is right for you? Are there any site favorites or recommendations?.

We liked the themed vacation tool to help customers locate holidays around pursuits they enjoy such as gambling, spa or family breaks.  However, similar tools on other sites had a more detailed breakdown of themes.

The customer ratings and Travelers’ Choice Awards were also nice features.

On the whole this site tries hard and has some good tools; however, it lacks articles, multimedia and does not travel to as many destinations as competitors.  Some of the tools could do with more sophisticated filters too.

These guys are on their way but they’re not there yet
